Family Education Program
Nurturing Parenting
Children don’t come with instructions, which is why our educators are here to offer guidance and help you create a safe, healthy environment for your child. Our goal is to improve your family’s chance of staying together.
To participate, you must have an open case with the Dutchess County Department of Community and Family Services or the Orange County Department of Social Services Children and Family Unit.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Home and Group-Based Education:
We will work with you at home or in our offices to make this process more comfortable for you and your child. Using the Nurturing Parenting Program curriculum, we will help your family to identify and build upon each member’s strengths to improve communication and cooperation, while coaching you through disciplinary methods that don’t involve hitting or yelling.
Referrals and Resources:
We understand that families have needs beyond their internal relationships, and we are here to help you access things like childcare assistance, WIC, Medicaid, literacy programs, counseling, and other resources.
