Dutchess Outreach, Inc. provides emergency assistance through the following programming and services:
The Beverly Closs Memorial Food Pantry: We can give a 3-day supply of groceries when identification for everyone in the household receiving food is provided. Everyone is eligible every 30 days.

The Lunch Box: Our midday meal program served 81,589 free meals and our evening dinner program served 28,049 meals to the unemployed, the homeless, and those who do not earn a living wage. The Lunch Box also hosts programs on topics of importance to clients. We are located on the ground floor of the Family Partnership Center’s eastern annex, just below the gymnasium.

The Emergency Fund: The Emergency Fund is used to prevent evictions, restore utilities, purchase prescribed medication and/or supplies, and to transport people to alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs. Last year, we distributed $24,720 in grants to purchase needed prescriptions for 241 people. With $29,188 in grants and effective advocacy and referral we were able to prevent the eviction of 300 people, including 118 children. With $16,937 in grants and our caseworkers’ intervention we kept the lights or the heat on for another 537 people, of whom 249 were children. Eligibility is limited; our guidelines are available online at http://www.dutchessoutreach.org or at our Reception Center.

GIFTS Nutrition Services (Giving Individuals Food for the Soul): We provided 4,062 meals to 14 homebound people living with HIV/AIDS
Advocacy and Referral – Helps clients receive information and locate other resources that can help their situation.

Food Farmacy: Dutchess Outreach provides food and other basic needs to individuals and families. Through a new partnership with Nuvance Health, Dutchess Outreach now operates a Food Farmacy, which provides nutritionally tailored groceries to people who are both food insecure and dealing with specific health challenges. You must have a referral and an appointment to participate in this program.
